Duties and responsibilities:
SaskAbilities provides professional Orthopaedic services to thousands of Saskatchewan clients each year. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our Prosthetics department in Saskatoon. The successful candidate will join a team of 2 Prosthetists and 3 Technicians to provide services for the northern half of the province. Saskatoon is a vibrant city on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. The city is known for its natural beauty, friendly community and diverse cultural offerings. Duties:
- Perform patient evaluation and treatment planning related to prosthetic devices for diverse patients; paediatric to senior.
- Provide education to, and discuss treatment options, with clients.
- Communicate and collaborate with inter-professional heath care teams in Saskatchewan.
- Design and direct the fabrication of a prosthesis to meet client needs.
- Accurately document patient specific information in the patient’s medical record.
- Operate hand tools and equipment required to fabricate and adjust prosthetic devices.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Current certification in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada
- Candidates without certification that have completed an accredited Prosthetic and Orthotic program, who display an appropriate level of experience and skills and are committed to challenging national exams, may be considered for a paid resident position.
Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management of a patient’s prosthetic needs including critical thinking and reasoning skills necessary to evaluate and address the needs of clients.
Skills:
- Highly motivated with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent hand skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and the ability to perform repetitive bending, pushing, lifting movements throughout the workday.
