SaskAbilities Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025

SaskAbilities Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities with Focus on Inclusion and Social Progress
Saskatchewan – On December 3, SaskAbilities joins the global community in recognizing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities – a day dedicated to promoting the rights, dignity, and full participation of persons experiencing disability.
The 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities theme, as set by the United Nations, is “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”
This theme highlights the essential role of inclusion in shaping communities where everyone can thrive. It also reinforces that real progress – whether social, economic, or cultural – depends on the active participation and leadership of people experiencing disability.
“Inclusion is more than accessibility – it’s about creating spaces where people experiencing disability are valued, heard, and supported to reach their full potential,” says Ian Wilkinson, Executive Director of SaskAbilities. “Through our programs and partnerships, we are proud to contribute to building inclusive communities across Saskatchewan.”
SaskAbilities delivers person-centred programs and supports that respond to the diverse needs of people experiencing disability. These services help remove barriers, open doors to opportunity, and contribute to stronger, more connected communities across the province.
On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, SaskAbilities reaffirms its mission of supporting people experiencing disability with programs and services to enhance their lives and its vision of working together to build inclusive communities for people of all abilities.
